Description

The uGrid Laboratory is the Smart Energy infrastructure available to the CITCEA-UPC research group.

Smart Energy is based on the synergistic combination and integration of power electronics, signal processing and analysis, computing, ICT, and control systems for efficient and intelligent energy/electricity systems, such as: wind energy, solar energy, transmission and distribution networks, power electronics, dominated electrical systems, microgrids, smart grids, big data, energy economics, electric vehicles, energy storage, and digital networks.

In the field of mechatronics, CITCEA-UPC develops and implements smart machines by integrating different technologies such as communications, power electronics, and control, including: power electronics design, industrial automation and communications, digital control, electrical machines and inductive components, and power electronics reliability.

CITCEA-UPC is a research and innovation center at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, located in the ETSEIB-UPC in Barcelona. It is committed to developing research that can be applied to relevant applications and has a significant impact on society and industry. The center is fully focused on addressing the social challenges related to electrical engineering. In this context, CITCEA-UPC’s research focuses on electrical technologies relevant to carrying out the energy transition in Europe.
