The Corrosion Laboratory is part of the IMEM-BRT research group. Its activities are carried out in collaboration with private companies and public organizations to conduct studies on the maintenance, prevention, and evaluation of corrosion in industrial equipment and installations made from metals and metal alloys. Additionally, as a TECNIO group, it participates in various competitive university-industry projects (NUCLIS, CDTI, etc.) with the goal of innovating in the sector of protection and prevention against corrosion of metal structures and equipment.
The IMEM-BRT group also collaborates with other UPC groups on topics related to electrochemical corrosion, the mechanical integrity of pure metals and alloys, as well as their protection.
Furthermore, the group specializes in the evaluation of organic coatings (paints or thermoplastic coatings) applied to metal structures for protection through the barrier effect against corrosion.
The laboratory has access to the infrastructure of the Barcelona Research Center in Multiscale Science and Engineering (BRCMSE), a María de Maeztu Center of Excellence at UPC, as an affiliated group.
