Description
The Environmental Analysis Laboratory is a scientific facility of the Environmental Engineering and Microbiology Group (GEMMA), a group that studies sustainable and innovative environmental biotechnologies for the treatment of water, wastewater and solid waste, which eliminate conventional and emerging pollutants and can produce bioenergy or bioproducts.
Research lines and technology transfer:
- Wastewater treatment through microalgal cultures and recovery of microalgal biomass for the production of bioenergy (biogas) and bioproducts (biofertilizers, natural pigments and bioplastics).
- Natural and low-cost technologies such as marshes built for the treatment of wastewater and sludge.
- Low-cost anaerobic digesters.
- Analysis of the life cycle and socioeconomic evaluation of products, technologies and processes.
- Calculation of the carbon and water footprint and sustainability analysis.
- Reuse of reclaimed water.
- Treatment of organic waste.
- Numerical simulation of bioprocesses.
