In the Grid Connection Lab, work is mainly done on the connection of generation systems to the grid via power converters. Such converters are increasing in number rapidly and are capable of providing new functionalities to improve the grid’s stability.

The infrastructure has objectives in different areas:

  • Experiment with smart grids.
  • Improve the response of electrical grids to network contingencies.
  • Design applications for the communication of power processors at different power plants.
  • Experiment with control structures that can power critical loads in fault conditions.
  • Design advanced interactive network control systems for power processors of clean energy sources.
