Fischer thickness meter - magnetic induction and eddy current method, Bruker DektakX contact profilometer for small and large samples, MCT CSEM micro-combi-tester - micro-hardness and adhesion (scratch resistance) testing of coatings and layers, FEI Quanta 250 scanning electron microscope with EDS and EBSD detector. High- and low-vacuum imaging Leica ACE200 sputtering machine. Sample preparation - carbon or gold sputtering, SPECS PHOIBOS100 XPS spectrometer. Chemical analysis of surfaces Agilent GC Chromatograph Agilent GC-MS system with autosampler Optical gloss meter. Gloss measurements, Coatings adhesion tester by cross-cut test, Solartron kit for testing dielectric properties of solid materials by dielectric impedance spectroscopy (DIS) method.

Description

The Surface Technology team in its current composition consists of employees derived from the Department of Surface Engineering, Catalysis and Corrosion, part of the former Institute of Inorganic Technology and Mineral Fertilizers. The Department was headed for many years by Prof. Bogdan Szczygiel, DSc., and since 2021 the work of the team has been headed by Juliusz Winiarski, DSc., Prof. of the university. The team cooperates with, among others: Silesian University of Technology, Gdansk University of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, Vrije Universitet Brussel, Heiche Sp. z o.o., GalvanoPartners Sp. z o. o. Sp. k., CANPACK S.A., Koelner/Rawlplug S.A. and SurTec Polska Sp. z o.o.. It carries out implementation doctorates in the field of technology of manufacturing protective coatings on aluminum and zinc alloys.The Team offers: Expertise in corrosion problems and corrosion damage. Expertise in electroplating coatings and electroplating technologies Laboratory corrosion resistance testing. Coating and material testing. SEM/EDS analysis with preparation XPS analysis of material surfaces (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy).
