Equipment
The laboratory consists of several rooms:
- Two rooms with 10 computers, each of them allowing the collection of behavioural data simultaneously from several participants,
- Two individual test rooms.
All computers are equipped with software for stimulus presentation (visual and auditory) and behavioural data collection (motor response and voice). Available software includes Eprime, Matlab, Superlab, Presentation, Qualtrics and Open Sesame.
The lab is further equipped with:
- An anechoic audio recording studio with equipment and software for recording and editing linguistic stimuli, and two other semi-anechoic rooms used mainly for psycholinguistic studies.
- A dedicated eye-tracking equipment for research: The LiveTrack Lightning 500Hz provides accurate and precise estimates of eye rotation, gaze direction coordinates, and pupil size. Ideal for oculomotor research; it is easy and quick to set up and calibrate. It records saccade metrics, observes contingent exposures, and monitors observer behaviour and pupil response during visual psychophysics and cognitive neuroscience experiments.
- A Biosemi, Active Two EEG system with 64 channels. Different sizes of EEG caps are available for electrode placement (52-56cm and 56-60cm), according to the international 10-20 system. It includes a second EEG equipment, similar to the aforementioned one, complemented by a sound booth with electromagnetic isolation, which allows experiments with auditory stimuli. For EEG data processing and analysis, the lab has FieldTrip and SPM interfaced with Matlab software.
The laboratory consists of an observation room for the researcher and a recording room for the participant, with adequate acoustic and electrical conditions.
