Widening Training @Wroclaw - Train Supervisors for PhD Collaborations
Widening Training @Wroclaw
This 3-day in-person training focuses on helping supervisors navigate PhD and young researchers in their academic journey, with the guiding question: how to help young researchers develop their research skills and how to handle the whole PhD research process.
What you’ll gain
- Strategies for onboarding new PhD students — setting clear expectations, co-creating individual development plans, and establishing productive supervisory relationships from day one.
- Techniques for giving constructive feedback — on drafts, presentations, and research progress, while promoting autonomy and critical thinking.
- Insights into career development mentoring — helping researchers identify transferable skills, explore diverse career pathways (academic and non-academic), and build professional networks.
- Peer exchange across Unite! universities — sharing best practices, discussing common supervisory dilemmas, and building a community of practice among experienced and emerging mentors.
