Fabrication and Characterization Technologies for Micro and Nano Devices
The course aims to teach students about basic nano-fabrication and characterisation techniques, with a focus on basic semiconductor devices and organic devices.
The course consists of three large modules, plus an additional extension where the techniques and challenges for recycling of microelectronic devices (specifically, photovoltaic modules) will be discussed. The first module focuses on semiconductor device characterisation, specifically of a crystalline silicon diode for photovoltaic applications. The second module deals with Organic semiconductor devices, flexible electronics, thin-film transistors and organic solar cells. Finally, the third block is the fabrication of nanostructured devices and their characterization. All modules include theoretical sessions and hands-on experience, including labs in a clean room for microelectronics fabrication.
