Numerical simulations of the dynamical evolution of embedded clusters

Offering main image

The goal of the PhD project is to perform numerical simulations of the dynamical evolution of embedded clusters, from the molecular cloud collapse to >10 Myr, in order to provide a theoretical framework in which to interpret the recent observational results on young stellar clusters. By confronting simulations with observations, this work will test whether the structural and kinematic properties, age spreads, and dynamical states of young clusters can discriminate between the physical conditions of star-forming clouds (turbulence, mass, density, dynamical state). The results will then be compared with star formation models, thereby constraining the dominant processes that govern cluster assembly and early evolution.
